Hair colour is our craft. Teri and Kayla are both Redken Certified Colourists, which means formal training in Redken's pH-balanced colour system, Shades EQ glossing, and the whole spectrum of lightening and toning techniques — not just whatever the salon happens to stock.
We work with every starting point: virgin hair, grown-out colour, box-dye rescue, grey coverage, corrective work. The consultation always comes first. If what you're asking for isn't safe for your hair in one sitting, we'll tell you — and map out a plan to get there over two or three appointments.

Our hair colour services
Retouched colour
A root retouch to cover regrowth — typically every 4–8 weeks depending on the shade and your rate of growth. Includes a blow wave. Add a gloss ($45 extra) to refresh the lengths at the same time.
Global colour
An all-over, single-tone colour from roots to ends. Best for changing your base shade or getting full, even coverage on grey hair.
Highlights & glossing
Foil-based lightening in half head, three-quarter head, or full head placement. Every highlight service includes a gloss toner and blow wave — there are no hidden add-ons.
Combination colour
Layered services like retouched & highlighted or global colour & highlights give depth and dimension. These are our most-requested services for clients who want a polished, salon-finished look rather than one flat tone. What brand of colour do you use?
We use Redken professional colour — Shades EQ for glossing and toning, and the full Redken colour line for permanent and demi-permanent work. We're also a stockist for take-home care.
Grey coverage
We cover grey hair regularly, from salt-and-pepper through to full white. Permanent colour is usually needed for full opacity, but we'll also discuss demi-permanent options and lighter blending if you'd rather transition away from covering and toward embracing your natural silver.
Hair colour aftercare
Colour-safe shampoo is non-negotiable — sulphate detergents strip colour fast. We stock Redken Color Extend and Davines Alchemic ranges at the salon. For home care, warm (not hot) water, weekly masks, and heat protection are the three habits that make colour last.

- At Base Hair Studio, retouched colour starts from $140, half head highlights from $185, full head highlights from $270, and combined global colour with highlights from $300. All services include a blow wave.
- How long does hair colour take?
- A root retouch takes about 1.5 hours. Full highlights or a global colour takes 2.5–3 hours. Combination services (colour and highlights together) can run 3.5 hours or more. We schedule realistically rather than rushing.
- Do you do colour correction?
- Yes. Box-dye correction, tonal fixes, removing bands, and warming or cooling existing colour are common jobs for us. Colour correction is quoted after consultation — please bring clean, dry, unstyled hair to the consult.
- Can you match a colour from a photo?
- We'll always look at your reference photos, but bring several so we can see the tone in different light. Photos are a guide — your skin tone, eye colour, starting hair colour, and lifestyle all feed into what will actually look good on you.
